Central Mountain hopes to improve upon last year’s six-win season.

“We bring back a strong senior class, so our expectations are to improve upon last season’s conference record and our overall record,” Central Mountain coach Billy Hook said. “We are hoping to score a few more goals and be a good-looking soccer team. The PHAC is insanely difficult and we appreciate the competition we face.”

The Wildcats will need to replace four-year starter Nate Brinker, who helped spark the offense. The team also graduated Braylon Gentzel, Isaiah Conoway and Ben Fortescue, who were three senior defenders.

“Replacing them is priority No. 1 for us this fall,” Hook said.

The cupboard isn’t bare, however, for the Wildcats. Back is leading scorer Peyton Jones, who had 11 goals and seven assists — both team highs. Asher Talbot is also back and had five goals and five assists after missing a few games due to injury.

“He has been great these first few days of practice,” Hook noted about Talbot.

The Wildcats also bring back Lincoln Breon, Zane Cooper, Pierce Long, Jack Grieco, Griffin Confer, Cole Cooper and Bronson Brungard.

“Our senior leadership will be our biggest strength. The group is very close, and they push each other every day,” Hook said. “They make a lot of my coaching job very easy and fun in that way. I will miss these guys a lot, but first I’m glad I get to see them play one more season together.”

Like Lewisburg, Jersey Shore also played extremely well from a defensive perspective in 2022, and Cornelius again sees the Bulldogs having a tough defensive unit.

“We should be solid this year defensively again. We return Cameron Fishel in goal, who had a great year last year. Isaiah Reibson I feel is the best centerback in the area and will lead the defense,” Cornelius said. “We have a good system in place and we like what we see so far.”

In addition to Fishel and Reibson, Shore also returns Daniel Marshall.

“Daniel has really hit the weight room hard the past two years and will lead our team offensively,” Corelius said. “Isaiah Reibson is a game changer. Isaiah is big, fast and plays his position well. Isaiah will shut down the other team’s best players and will be a key to jump start our offense.”
